The image is my best form of communication. it´s immediate, it´s wide in its appeal and it allows me to express myself in a spontaneous way: it captures the moment.
I used to make short films but this meant I had to work within the confines of a film crew which needed, in my case, a lot of organisation.
I look for simplicity and the photograph is the best form of expression for me; moreover, I have always had a marked preference for the fixed image: (whether it`s Surrealism and/or photomontage). The photo allows me to communicate that which I can´t do it with words; it also allows me to be an independent spirit. Physically, I am not be able to do what I would like to do.
Importantly, I have a really mixed heritage: English, French, Polish and Russian. This mixture seems to propel me towards the Other, to travel, to discover new places, new people and new ideas. It has also enable me to speak a few lenguages: each lenguage brings with it, its own way of thinking thus allowing me to have different perspectives of the world.
My life is founded upon diversity and change: photography allows me to express this at a fundamental level.
a photograph represents a suspended moment in time. This is partly what I want to show in the new project. I get around in a wheelchair which means that I have to go much more slowly than able-bodied people. It´s perhaps, this which allows me to be aware of immobility itself and to capture the static and sometimes phantom mannequis in a window naturally framed with mirrors and reflections
Although I have slow mobility myself. I feel I am able to catch the stationary in a world which is so obsessed with speed.

STUDIO
A project of a video work shop to mix both disabled and able-bodies children (6-10yrs) and to facilitate the creative education, Dublin 1996
L’image est mon mode de communication privilegié. Plus immédiate, plus globale, elle exprime ma sensibilité de manière plus spontanée.
J’ai d’abord fait des court-métrages, mais ceci demande de travailler au sein d’une équipe, et de fait demande beaucoup d’organisation. J’ai besoin de simplicité, et la photo s’est averée un mode d’expression beaucoup plus commode; d’autant que j’ai toujours marqué une préférence pour l’image fixe (je suis fan du surréalisme, et de photo-montages).
La photo me permet dès lors de communiquer ce que je ne peux exprimer par des mots. Elle me permet de garder un esprit indépendant, puisque physiquement, je ne peux pas l’être autant que je voudrais.
Par ailleurs, j’ai des origines tres métissées (anglaise, française, polonaise et russe), et ce mélange m’a toujours poussée à aller vers l’autre, voyager en somme: découvrir de nouveaux espaces, de nouvelles personnes, de nouvelles idées.
C’est aussi pour cela que je parle plusieurs langues. Chaque langue vehicule un mode de pensée, une vision du monde particulière. Et donc adopter de nouvelles langues, c’est ouvrir son champ de vision, élargir ses possibilités de perceptions.
Ma vie est fondée sur la diversité et l’échange: la photo me permet d’exprimer cela.
Une photo, c’est aussi un moment suspendu, une faille dans le temps.
Et c’est ce que je veux montrer dans mon nouveau projet. Je me déplace en fauteuil, je vais beaucoup moins vite que les personnes valides. Et je suis, semble-t-il, plus sensible à l’immobilité (mannequins en vitrines), aux jeux de miroirs, aux jeux de reflets.
Lentement mobile, j’observe l’immobile dans un environnement super mobile...
